Yes. We start the walk separate from the run to allow walkers enough time on the course and have them start before the run so that they can have the same finish line experience.

Ladies, if you’re trying to break world records – we suggest you find a different race. If you can’t support other women achieving a goal of walking a half marathon (maybe their first!), then this race isn’t for you. Yes, you might have to go around some walkers, but when you do – say hi and give them a cheer. They might just do the same and send you positive vibes on your way to a PR.

The 5K is a slightly rolling course, but great for beginners. Wide streets, lots of shade, and through a cool neighborhood.

No. We love pups and they are amazing training partners, but leave them safely at home – away from the loud noises, the crowds, & out of the heat. But tell them all about your race time splits when you get home – they are the best listeners!

You’ll get your bib along with your goody-bag at packet pick-up on Saturday, June 23, from 10am-6pm. Note: there is no race day packet pick up and no packet pick up on Friday. Saturday only.

Only the prettiest, most sparkly, most awesome finisher medal out there! All finishers of the half marathon & 5K will receive a finisher medal. Yes, ALL of you. Also, be sure to notice that the 5K medals are the same size as the Half Marathon medals. That’s on purpose. Why? Because to some runners a 5K is just as big of deal as a Half Marathon. They get to celebrate just as much with a medal that’s just as awesome.
Awards will be given to the top 3 overall female finishers of the half marathon distance & 5K distance. Awards will be given to the last 3 overall female finishers of the half marathon & 5K distance, named “Time On Your Feet” awards. Awards will be given to 1st-3rd of female age group divisions: Under 14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+.

The DreamBank Her Madison Half Marathon & 5K is proud to support Girls On The Run of Dane County as our official race charity partner. $5 from every half marathon registration and $3 from every 5K registration will go directly to GOTR. We also support the University of Wisconsin, The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, My Team Triumph, and several other volunteer charities.
Only $35 when registering online! This gives you access to an awesome Welcome Reception Cocktail Party, Shakeout Run, and Yoga! Heck, I’ve been to some yoga drop-in classes that cost more than that!
Sure thing! You can add on the extra fun at the Weekend Experience Check In which is on Friday, 6-8pm at The Concourse (as long as the event is not at capacity). It’ll be $45.00 to add-on (only $35 more at the time of online registration). You can pay cash, check, or credit card.
If you give your bib to someone else or get a bib from someone else, without completing the transfer process, you will forever be unwelcome at our events and publicly shamed on social media. We’re not kidding – we’ll have proof from the race photos. Banditting is absolutely 100% not allowed. You put at risk all the other athletes, the person you give your bib too, and all the emergency personnel that work very hard to keep you safe. If you think its acceptable to steal race amenities from people that work very hard to pay for them and from the race organizes that work hard to provide them – you have no business being at our race. Don’t like our take on the subject? Too bad. Or you can read other opinions here:
Think of this as an investment. An investment in yourself – the training, the gear, the preparation. Even if you can’t show up on race day – you’ve already made those investments, and so have we. Unfortunately, even if YOU can’t make it, we still have to pay for the barricades, the police staff, all the goodies….all costs that we can’t return. If you can’t race, we suggest you take advantage of our FREE race transfer program before Monday, June 19.
Our race is open and dedicated to all individuals that identify as female. We do not offer men’s cut T-shirts, men’s overall awards, or any men’s age group awards.
We would LOVE to have men volunteer at our event! You can volunteer here:
Or, you can have your guy go out to Husband Hill. Husband Hill is located right at Mile 8, at the corner of Lakeshore Path & at the base of Oxford Hill. There will be music, bean bag toss, football, man beverages, signs for them to decorate. Have them come cheer you on at one of the toughest parts of the course!
Our race is capped at 3,000 participants.
Online registraiton will close on Wednesday, June 21 at 12:00pm (NOON).
On-site registration will be available during packet pick up on Saturday, from 10am-6pm.
Nope, sorry. We want to spend as much time with you as possible, so we’re asking that you come see us on Saturday. Plus, we want to make sure that race morning is as stress-free as possible. Nobody likes getting stuff last minute, so it’s just best for everyone to do packet pick-up the day before.
The race will go on rain or shine. However, if there is inclement weather in the area, Her Madison Half Marathon & 5K implements the 30/30 rule. If we hear thunder within 30 seconds after lightning, then the race will be delayed 30 minutes. Due to our agreement with the local municipalities, the course cut-off will need to remain the same at 1:00pm.
We request that athletes are at least 8 years old to participate. Any participant under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the participant wavier.
The half marathon course will officially close at 1pm. This gives 6 hours for the half marathon walk and 5 hour for the half marathon run.
The 5K course will officially close at 11am, which gives 2 hours for the 5K.
If you are not going to finish within that time limit, you are absolutely welcome to finish the race, but just know that it will not be supported. You may be asked to move to the sidewalk.
There are 2 aid stations on the 5K course, mile .85 and mile 2.05, in addition to at the start/finish.

There are 8 aid stations on the half marathon course (approx every 1.5 miles), in addition to at the start/finish. Start, Mile 2, Mile 3.1, Mile 4.2, Mile 6, Mile 7.5, Mile 9, Mile 10.5, Mile 12.1, Finish.

Water, Powerbar Gel, and Sports Drink. Plus cheers from the most beautiful, amazing volunteers.
Yes! We have Ryan Brothers Ambulance that will be roaming the course and stationed at the finish line. We also have several City of Madison, UW, and Village of Shorewood Hills police stationed at key intersections. All of our aid stations will be equipped with basic first aid kits. If you need immediate medical attention, alert the nearest volunteer and they will call for help.
There will be ample porto potties located near the shuttle bus drop off, just behind Sundance Cinema. There will also be a portopottie at each aid station.
Yes. You can run with headphones, but you are responsible for knowing the course and being able to listen to volunteers. If you go off course and are listening to headphones, you have no right to blame the event organizers, as there was probably a volunteer telling you which way to go that you choose to ignore.
Yes. You can run with your phone, but you are responsible for knowing the course and being able to listen to volunteers. If you go off course and are talking on your cellphone, you have no right to blame the event organizers, as there was probably a volunteer telling you which way to go that you choose to ignore.
Hotel check out is at 11am. However, The Concourse does allow for late checkout upon request at check-in and subject to hotel availability. Just be sure to call down to the front desk to make late check out arrangements.
